May meeting covers VaQP results and Field Day planning

Andy K1RA presented results from the SPARC meta-data for the various VaQP categories. Many FARA members placed in the Top 20 and it appears the club placed 2nd overall in the club combined category. Preliminary results indicate Andy K1RA, Dave K3SK, Ross N4RP, Greg & Henry KI4ZKJ/KI4ZKI, and Karen W4KRN all placed first in their respective categories earning themselves a plaque. Plaques will be awarded by SPARC at the Manassas hamfest June 13. To view the individual Top 20 breakdowns download the slides VAQP 2010 Scores.

John KX4O was elected Field Day chairman and presented information on prior FARA Field Day’s and plans for the upcoming 2010 event. It was decided we would return to Crockett Park this year but plan to investigate other locations for 2011. Also it was decided we would enter the 3A category this year. Please come visit us on FD weekend June 26/27 at Crockett Park and experience Field Day first hand.
